“Hey Newbie!”

“What’s up, n00b?”

Who’s idea was it to start calling their customers “newbies”, anyway?
(I think that only happens in Internet Marketing. LOL!)

The problem is:

Not everyone that needs
guidance, coaching, or advice…
is NEW.
Or INEXPERIENCED.
Or has LIMITLESS FUNDS for shiny objects that don’t work after 3 days.

The problem is:

Many of us have taken the
(slightly) longer route
to our success.

So while you may not have “arrived” yet…
You aren’t just now crawling into the arena in diapers, either.

The problem is:

Despite the fact that so many of us bring
amazingly deep and rich expertise and experience
to the field of Internet Marketing,

too often we’re being treated like the golden goose:
Only good for the money we can pay out…

With little regard for actually moving us
from where we are,
to where we want to be.

Don’t They Know?

Don’t these “six figures in six days” marketers know that we’re not here to play games?

Don’t these “I trained my 7 year old niece to build this, and she made $2,000 in 1 day”
smoke-and-mirror practitioners know, that we don’t want to be
fooled,
fooled around with, or
treated like fools??

Don’t they know that we’ve invested too much
TIME,
MONEY,
HEARTACHE,
LOST SLEEP,
TIME APART FROM FAMILY, and
MENTAL GYMNASTICS…
to be sold yet another cheap time-waster
that further disillusions us,
and distances our LOVED ONES from believing in us???

ENOUGH WITH THE “N” WORD.

Enough with the push-button B.S.,

Enough with the fast-food nothingburgers,

Enough with treating people like NEWBIES.

It’s time for a revolution against

the GURU Godfathers,

the PUSH-BUTTON Pimps,

the “Charge-First, Provide Value Never”Charlatans,

the “Throw the newbies at the wall and see if they stick”Salesmen.

What’s your beef with being treated like a NEWBIE?

Air your grievances.

Share what you’re SICK AND TIRED OF in this Internet Marketing game.

And then let’s forever redefine the balance of power between
GURUs / SHADY MARKETERS / SNAKE OIL SALESMEN

and

SO-CALLED NEWBIES.

How long will they get away with

treating you like this?

(Or am I totally off base here?)

I need to hear from you. Leave a comment.

Tell me how you’ve been treated in this industry,

and why you need a change.

Newbie’s Revenge goes live on Sunday, at 4pm EST.

Gurus beware.

I hate the term “Newbie”.

It’s commonly used in Internet Marketing
(I was there not so long ago.)

I got tired of being treated like a newbie.
I got tired of being sold

Steve Jobs – Stanford Commencement Speech

Steve Jobs passed away yesterday.
He left behind him the most amazing of business legacies.

One that will be spoken of for a long time.

His famous Stanford Commencement speech from 2005

says a LOT about who the man was…

And who we can aspire to be

As entrepreneurs and visionaries.

Steve Jobs Speech – Connecting the Dots

Steve Jobs – CEO of Apple Computers, creator of the iPod, the iMac, the iTouch…

creator of iTunes…

is a college drop-out.

How did this happen?
And how did he still manage to change the computing, education, and entertainment industries – with the iMac, iPod, and iTunes?

It started before birth – he adopted parents graduated from college. He went to an expensive college, that strained the family financially.

And so after 6 months of college, having no idea what he wanted to do in his life, and no idea how college was going to help him figure that out…

he dropped out.

It was very scary at the time, but turned out being one of the best decisions he ever made.

He started dropping in on more interesting classes, and dropped the requisite ones

He slept on friends dorm room floor

He returned soda cans for the 5 cent refund

He got one good meal a week at the Hare Krishna temple

One of the classes he picked up was calligraphy. This ended up being the foundation for great design, that has established Apple’s brand today.

The Lesson?

“You can’t connect the dots (or iPods?) looking forwards.

You can only connect the dots looking backwards.

You have to trust that somehow things will work out okay.

That the dots will connect in your future.”

“Believing the dots will connect in your future will give you the courage to follow your heart – even when it leads you off the well-worn path.

And that will make all the difference.” — Steve Jobs

Maybe you also have an iMac, iPod, and iTunes empire within you.

If only you can find the courage to be true to yourself.

Steve Jobs Speech – Love and Loss:

Steve Jobs says he was lucky – he found what he loved early in life.

Wozniak and Jobs started Apple in his garage when he was 20. In 10 years, it was a 4,000-person company worth $2 billion. And then he got fired – He had a falling out with the co-leader of the company. And the board of directors sided with him.

The heaviness of success was replaced by the lightness of being a beginner again.
He entered the most creative period of his life.
He created NEXT, Pixar, and got married.
(Pixar is the now most successful animation studio in the world)

Then – Apple bought NeXT.
Steve returned to Apple, and he has a wonderful marriage.

The Lesson?

Sometimes life can hit you in the head with a brick.

Don’t lose faith.

The only thing that kept Steve Jobs going, is that he did what he loved.

You’ve got to find what you love. If you haven’t found it yet – keep looking. And don’t settle.

As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.

Keep looking. Don’t settle.

Steve Jobs Speech – Death:

“If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you’ll most certainly be right.”:)

Since hearing that quote, Steve has been asking himself every day: “If today were the last day in my life would I want to do what I’m about to do?”

Remembering that he’ll be dead soon has the most useful tool for making the most important choices in his life. All pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure – these things fall away.
Only what is truly important remains – when faced with death.

Steve was diagnosed with incurable cancer in 2004. He was advised that he would live no more than 6 months.

Later that evening, they re-examined him and determined that the cancer was CURABLE!

He had the surgery, and he’s fine now. Steve says:

Death is very likely the single best invention of life. It’s life’s change agent. It clears out the old, to make room for the new.Right now the new is you.But you won’t always be. Someday, you’ll be the old.Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

Where were you 10 years ago?

On September 11th, 2001

A day that will forever live in infamy

That day found me about a month into my MBA program at Emory University

In Atlanta, Georgia.

It was a time of great excitement -

as I was enjoying being in school again
After four years working as an I.T. analyst.

(I’m never wearing a pager again for ANYTHING! LOL!)

I’d found my way out of that career path
And started on a new one.

I was studying Marketing in Business School.

Just as in my undergrad experience at Morehouse College,
I came in under the mistaken impression that
I was kind of a big deal.
LOL!

I say that only with hindsight now.

I was never every cocky. That’s not who I am.

But I certainly did have an assurance that
I could hold my own in any arena.

Ha ha!

It was like being thrown into the deep end of the ocean
Surrounded by synchronized swimmers
who looked on sympathetically as I floundered.

That’s the great thing about growth experiences though.

You find out that you’re out of your depth…

But, not having a choice, you step up.
You grow up.
You grow IN, is probably more appropriate.
Into the shoes you need to fill,
Into the person you need to be.

Business school at Emory was that kind of growth experience for me.

A month in, I realized that everyone walking the halls
was as smart as me
and in many cases A WHOLE WHOLE WHOLE LOT SMARTER than me.

But I also realized that

Not giving up,

Not giving in,

Making friends, and actively asking THEM for help,

Making new friends, and actively helping THEM where I could,

(I think I drove 3 different classmates
who didn’t have cars to go mattress shopping…
What a specialty… LOL!)

Yeah.

Doing that stuff…

Allowed me to at least tread water.

Hey – I was happy to manage that.

I knew that eventually,

Eventually,

I would get it together.

I was on campus at Emory University

When the news came streaming in.

Students from all around the world

gathered around the campus TVs in stunned disbelief.

Cell phones came out,

As did fear
Grief
and the kindness of strangers.

We all know the details of what happened on 9/11

We all remember where we were on 9/11

And we all remember

Never to forget.

I’m grateful for all the heroes who looked out for others

On that day,

And in the days, weeks, months afterward.

We pulled together

We helped, and asked for help,

We didn’t know how we would make it

We simply knew that we would.

May God comfort everyone

who lost someone on that day.
Today must be hard for them.

May God bless each and every one of us,

And help us to forgive, but not forget.

May those of us fortunate enough

to be around and kicking
10 years later

Take some quiet time to figure out

How we have made a difference
in the past 10 years

And how we can best make a difference,
if we’re gifted the next 10 years.

Where were you on 9/11?

Please share your thoughts.

In gratitude,

Bolaji.

Yes, it definitely DOES depend!

Lots of people have large email lists,
and yet struggle to earn a living off of their lists.

It’s because they have NO RELATIONSHIP with their subscribers.

But for Jenn Dize, stay-at-home and Internet Marketer,
the money is most definitely in the list.

Check out the video about Jenn.

The money is definitely in the list.
But you have to pre-sell your audience.

YOu can’t just hit them over the head with a SALE! BANNER,
or a BUY NOW SIGN!

You need to pre-sell, before they ever see a sales page.

You need to recommend like a friend.

But do it strategically.

Do it right, and your conversions will go through the roof.

Do it the wrong way, and you may come off as nagging, bossy, or even nosy.

Isn’t it true that some of your friends are more influential than others?

You want to be that influential friend… not the one no one listens to.

NOW: If you could increase your conversions by a few percentage points, how much more money could you earn?

-ex- $10 offer.
- Convert 10% of your 200 clicks, you’ve sold 20 copies. You earn $200.
- Convert 15% of your 200 clicks, you’ve sold 30 copies. You earn $300.
5% increase in conversions = $100 more, in this example!

—————————————————–
My friend Jenn Dize has come out with a guide
EVERY MARKETER needs to read.
—————————————————–
She has done a TON of research… which came out of her wanting to get better conversion rates from her emails.

Now Jenn is a stay-at-home Mom that is simply brilliant at Internet Marketing.

Everyone of her products sells hundreds of copies.

And after meeting her online, and reviewing all the testimonials, I decided to give her product a try.

I’ve read this through several times, applied it to some of my emails and video reviews.

ALREADY (already) I have seen amazing results.

I got this only about 3 days ago, and I’m already seeing results.

—————————————————–
STEP 4: CLOSE W/ AN OFFER THEY CAN’T REFUSE
—————————————————–
I picked up Jenn’s MAGIC PRESELL GUIDE a few days ago, and was BLOWN AWAY with it.

It lays out 4 very specific real life case studies from Jenn’s email account.

She gives a no-holds barred look at exactly what she put in her email, for what sales letter,

and she shows how her relatively small list OUTPERFORMED the lists of some gurus with HUGE lists!!

She runs through her MAGIC PRESELL formula,
Demonstrates how in each of the 4 examples she thoughtfully applied it
And reveals her KILLER SALES at the end.

Jenn’s MAGIC PRE-SELL GUIDE is GREAT VALUE for the money.

Imagine the impact of getting a tiny improvement in conversions?

It’s on a dime-sale, so the price goes up with every purchase
- If you apply what Jenn teaches and sharEs in the MAGIC PRESELL GUIDE,

you will make more money,

more consistently,

from your email marketing.

So pick up Jenn Dize’s MAGIC PRE-SELL GUIDE
and start making more sales from your emails.

http://www.WhoIsBolaji.com/magic-presell

What’d you think of the video?

And how’s your email marketing going?

Are you converting a lot of your clickers into buyers?

Robert started out as a PHP programmer in college.

As brilliant as he is at writing code though, his standout skills have expanded to productivity hacking, product creation, webinar delivery, and even copywriting!

I interviewed Robert as part of my Warrior Of The Year interview series.

At 26 years of age, earning $40,000/month, every month, ain’t too shabby! All from information products.

Robert shares how he’s grown his business over almost a decade… and how he along the way learned how to be uber-productive.

(Simple example: Robert used to be intimidated by doing presentations of any kind. Including webinars.
Today, he’s presented in almost 500 webinars!)

I recorded a 20-minute chat ABOUT the Robert Plank interview, as part of a product I launched a few weeks ago.

And for my subscribers? I’m sharing the back-room interview analysis I did with my Joint Venture (JV) partner, James Renouf.!

A former school teacher, he got started with eBay auctions in 2007… selling classroom accessories.

He soon moved into creating an information product for Classroom Management
(How to manage those uncooperative darling kids who were bent on disrupting the class.
Were you one of them when you were younger? LOL!)

After sharing his successes on the Warrior Forum (for free), he received a huge outpouring of appreciation.
Even from seasoned Internet Marketers earning full-time incomes!

Several tried to recruit him to work for them…

But most others just encouraged him to create an information product about how he sold so successfully on eBay.
(The Warrior Forum is a pretty unusual place on the ‘Net… lots of support when growing your online business.)

This was the beginning of a thriving online business for Lee.

Fed up with school politics, he quit his job, and never looked back.

Lee’s story is fascinating in that…

He didn’t have a technical OR marketing background.

He was a lawyer for 3 months (yes, 3 months),

An accountant for 3 months (that’s right, no typo), and then

A school teacher for two years!

The guy has itchy feet. LOL!

But once Lee took his teaching and analytical abilities
(not to mention his habit of way over-delivering on value)
into Internet Marketing, his success eclipsed anything else he’d ever done.

Although it admittedly took me a minute to get past Lee’s STRONG accent (like I’m one to talk! LOL!),
I now enjoy listening to his free and paid content on a regular basis.

I’m going to review one of those today… Instant Internet Lifestyle.

Okay first, the bad.

THE NAME “INSTANT INTERNET LIFESTYLE” IS TERRIBLE.

Here's another bad name: colon open bracket - by sumlin on FlickR

Yes, Terrible!

It sounds hypey.

Lee should FIRE his copywriter immediately.

(If you picked that title yourself Lee… you should HIRE a copywriter immediately! LOL!)

The reason I really dislike the title, aside from the hype-factor,

is that the product is actually really good.

With lots of invaluable “meat and potatoes” business-building strategies
that I haven’t seen taught anywhere else.

None of them give instant results.

But they do lend themselves to building a scalable business online – and rapidly, at least in Lee’s case.

Anyway. Now that I’ve told you what kinda sucks about the product, here’s what I DO like.

1: Price-Stretching.

In Lee’s “Instant Internet Lifestyle“, Lee has recorded TEN HOURS of video from his “Upside-Down, Inside-Out” seminar in Las Vegas.

Attendees each paid over $1,000.

Lee is charging $19.95 for the video.

Why would Lee just charge $19.95???

(Pay close attention here folks – there is a VERY VALUABLE LESSON.)

Well – Lee actually answers that question within the Vegas workshop footage.

It’s part of a concept called “Price Stretching”… giving WAY MORE value than is expected for the price.
And thus building loyalty in that customer.

And earning the opportunity to sell more valuable products to that customer.

Intrigued? I was.

I’ve since put this to good use.

Over the past 3 weeks on the Warriors Forum, I’ve launched products at prices WAY lower than the products are worth.

The Nocrastinator’s Time Machine bundle – Increase your productivity by 497% in the next 24 hours.

5-Figure Warrior Special Offer (WSOs) Secrets, with Mike Carraway

40,000 Reasons to Master Productivity Hacking, Prolific Product Creation & Membership Sites, with Robert Plank

Price-stretching is great!

The customer gets a steal of a deal…

The seller gets an influx of customers that otherwise may not have been introduced to the seller’s offerings…

And if the seller does a good job of over-delivering on value, you have an ongoing and mutually-beneficial relationship!

It’s the exact concept behind Wal-Mart’s low prices.
Actually, that’s not accurate.

It’s the exact concept behind Groupon’s amazing deals.
The buyer gets a sampling…
And the seller gets new customers… one-time.

If you’ve used Groupon a few times, you’ve probably run into sellers (particularly restaurants) whose service-employees don’t know how to treat Groupon customers. They treat Groupon customers like they’re second-class citizens. Like they’re freeloaders. Like they’re worth LESS.

(BIG MISTAKE.)

Treat Groupon customers nicely, and they’ll return to purchase your full-priced products.

And in fact, they can turn out to be MORE LOYAL than your regular customers, because of the “feel-good factor” they will carry with them from their first encounter with you.

TINY PRICE, HUGE VALUE, OVER-DELIVERY ON THE BACK-END.

Nice. Price-stretching.

I learned it from Lee, but you can see examples of it in various industries.

Twisted Money by Public Domain Photos on FlickR

Tip: A twist on Price-stretching:

Lee McIntyre offers a product valued at $97, but sold at $10 normally, FOR FREE.
And then made a price-stretching offer on the back-end to his Get More Momentum Gold Coaching, that I got immense value from.

The idea here is that you “move the free line” (as Eben Pagan would say).

You redefine what your prospective customers can get for free…

In exchange for the right to build a relationship with them.

And then, as part of that relationship-building, you offer them ridiculous amounts of value at a stretched price (really low price)…

In exchange for the right to offer them more value at regular cost, if they are enjoying the relationship.

It’s definitely a long-term business strategy…

And also one that’s more suited to the sale of information products (where giving product away doesn’t put you out of business. LOL!)

2: How to Drive Continuous Traffic to Your Sales Page (“Stop Driving Traffic”. What?)

Driving Traffic - photo by epSos.de on flickr

I can tell you that the biggest thing that motivated me to purchase the Instant Internet Lifestyle, was Lee’s insistence that we STOP focusing on DRIVING TRAFFIC, if we wanted a thriving online business. (WHAT??)

I had to hear the logic behind this.

According to Lee, driving traffic can either be:

Expensive (lost money on Google AdWords, anyone?),

Time-consuming (like writing articles for article directories, or writing Search Engine Optimized blog content, or building backlinks), or

Complicated

Don’t I know it!

Traffic is the lifeblood of any business.

Imagine yourself the owner of a brick-and-mortar store.

Regardless of how amazing your products are, if you don’t have a good location…

If you don’t have foot traffic…

You’ll be wasting that monthly rent payment for the store space.

crowded apple store on iphone launch day - by niiallkennedy on FlickR

This happens online ALL THE TIME.

Sure, the store space is a little cheaper, but most online businesses don’t thrive because they don’t have thriving traffic.

So to assert that we should stop focusing on driving traffic? Counter-intuitive is putting it mildly!

But I’ll admit that by the end of the video on this topic, I was pretty convinced that Lee is on to something.

Lee’s assertion is that it is MUCH BETTER to focus on having affiliates drive traffic for you, than to focus on getting that traffic yourself.

Lee allows his affiliates to master the article directories, Google Adwords, social media, SEO content, and so on.

Lee focuses instead on:

Creating amazing value for his customers, with great products at great prices, and

Creating amazing value for his affiliates, with great commissions, lifetime commissions, and of course, happy end customers.

What are lifetime commissions?

Lemonade Stand by CrazyUncleJoe on FlickR

Here’s the scenario on lifetime commissions.

You own a neighborhood lemonade stand. 10 cents/cup.

You regularly sell to the same 10 neighbors a day. Business is stagnant.

So you recruit your friend, Liz Lemon, to bring you customers.

On the first day, Liz Lemon brings you 5 customers. Liz Lemon earns a 50% commission for each customer. Woo-hoo!

Now STOP.

If you were like Amazon.com, or Netflix.com, when Liz Lemon’s referrals return on day 2, you would keep 100% of the revenue.

But if you offered lifetime commissions, Liz would ALWAYS earn that 50% commission ANY TIME his referrals buy from you.
Even 5 years from now!
(Would that make little Lizzie Lemon kinda happy?)

Not only that, but when you start selling other products, like hot chocolate (in the winter), Liz Lemon would still earn his 50% commission ANY TIME his referrals buy Hot Chocolate from you. EVEN THOUGH SHE DIDN’T EVEN KNOW YOU SOLD HOT CHOCOLATE!

Do you think Liz would be eager to bring many more people your way?

Lee McIntyre gets about 80% of his sales from affiliates.

Last I checked, it was to the tune of $120,000/month.

Not too shabby, methinks.

Okay – so price-stretching, and not focusing on driving traffic were two epiphanies I got from Lee’s Internet Lifestyle video course.

I’ll share one more huge one…

Instant Internet Lifestyle: 8-steps to profits in 1 month:

Lee starts the program out by laying out a 31-day plan (in 8 steps), for how to start making your money online – from square 1.

But first, Lee tells some uncomfortable truth about how to NOT make money online:

Jumping from idea to idea w/o ever completing any of them.

Becoming addicted to the “soap opera” and drama, instead of your own results.

Becoming completely education-focused instead of action-focused.

Any of that feel familiar to you? I know I have been guilty of ALL 3 things!

The Instant Internet Lifestyle 8-Step Profit Plan:

Day 1: Find a hungry marketing and figure out what they need- Don’t find a brand new niche.- Find ppl already spending.- In taking notes, I took the opportunity to define my own target niche. Does it meet Lee’s qualifications?* My niche:

People who hate their job.

Internet Marketers who haven’t created their own product.

Internet Marketers stuck in analysis paralysis / education mode (without taking action).

People who want to do stuff that matters (and then make money from it, by creating e-products)

Day 2: Get even more niche!

Eagerly become less relevant to 90% of the market.- This makes you more relevant to 10% of your market.

To that 10%, you’ll be EXACTLY what they’re looking for.

Example: 7 Ways to Lose Weight for Working Moms in 29 Days.

Caveat: Find at least 1 product in your micro-niche already profitable.

Don’t go into a brand new market.

Day 3: Create Your First Information Product:

Interview an expert. Think: What’s In It For Them?- Encourage them to promote their products on the interview

Exposure for them (Convince them you’ll get them traffic)

Give them the rights to the product

Day 4: Make Your Sales Video

If the product can’t be made in 1 day, DON’T MAKE IT!

If the sales page can’t be made in 1 day, DON’T DO IT!

Sell it cheap: No more than $20- You’ll need really good sales copy to pull off a higher price.

Make a Sales video instead of a traditional Sales Letter

Day 5: shopping cart & affiliate

Day 6: make a JV (Joint Venture partnership) list (anyone selling similar products already)

Do Clickbank research (products similar 2 yours). Add to your list.

Do a Google search for products complementary to yours. Add to your list.

Find all products being sold by AdWords Add to your list.

Do a Google search for forums on your keyword. Add to your list.

Google search 4 blogs on your keywords. Add to your list.

Day 7: Use the JV scalpel to drive unlimited traffic<– THIS IS IT!

This was the REAL reason I bought this course. And I was BLOWN AWAY by the simplicity and effectiveness of this technique.

Forget all the other 9.5 hours of content – the 30 minutes spent on the JV scalpel is worth a lot more than $20.

I’ve been using the JV scalpel over the past several weeks, to recruit affiliates. I’ll post an update case study on this soon!

Days 8-30: integrate your marketing, and repeat.

Session 1: Automatic Traffic Control (1hr 15 mins)

Session 2: Affiliate Army Method (1hr)

Session 3: Internet Automation Plan (1hr 20 mins)

Session 4: Video Sales Uncut (1hr 4 mins)

Totaling 10.5 hours of training.

It also includes unannounced bonuses:

Transcripts of every class, and

A video of the Q&A session

Those are just the notes I took from the first video in the Instant Internet Lifestyle.

There are about a dozen more videos.

So this is why I felt guilty about (only) paying $19.95 for this.

I can honestly say it has revolutionized my Internet business…

And made me a Lee McIntyre fan.

Even my wife (who has naturally became a bit jaded with Internet Marketing, after seeing my various false starts) has become a huge Lee fan, after seeing affiliate checks finally come in for something I was promoting.

I’ll probably do a few more reviews on this single product of Lee’s… it has THAT MUCH GOOD STUFF in it.

But for now, let me end this review here. No hard sell.

If my notes from portions of Instant Internet Lifestyle seem worth your while, make the investment.

Thanks for reading!
